If you love color but are a bit unsure how to use it, we can help. We’ve pulled together a few of our favorite color tips to make it easy to add new hues to your home.
- Dining Rooms are Ideal. Whether you choose paint or wallpaper, the dining room is the perfect room for color. Bold colors work well in these spaces, while still allowing the dining table to be the focal point. And, many dining rooms have wainscoting or extra moldings, which help balance a deep wall color.
- Mix it Up. Don’t be afraid to mix natural wood tones and painted finishes. We love the look of a traditional table in a brown finish, mixed with chairs painted in a cream or off-white.
- Create a Flow. If you are going to use a variety of colors throughout your house, use the same value of colors so that each room is tied together and flows well.
- Be Strategic. Strategically use color throughout your home so that the colors have more impact. For example, instead of using bold colors in every room, choose the rooms where they’ll make the biggest impression—such as the powder room, dining room or bedroom.
